Here’s some TL:DR.
Class Member response to the settlement has been considerable.3 As of November 20, 2016, of the consumers who were within the settlement class:
415,091 have registered through Volkswagen’s Claims Portal;4
241,455 have submitted claims for Volkswagen to review;
165,223 have had their claims deemed complete and preliminarily eligible
by Volkswagen;
67,020 were pending a determination by Volkswagen as to whether the
claim is complete and preliminarily eligible; and
41,978 have been issued offers, the aggregate value of which is
$765,360,954.79.(holy shit that’s a lot of $$)
Despite significant progress in launching the Claims Program, Volkswagen has experienced some challenges in meeting timing requirements in processing the influx of initial claims.”

As a frustrated customer I will be so glad to walk out of a vw dealership for the last time.
It took almost a month to go from pending eligibility to getting my offer today. I wonder how long that will take to confirm so I can finally schedule the turn in .

Seriously how many people are NOT going to take the buy back? I think you would be a bit stupid not to take the offer.

You live in a state where emission tests aren’t required, it’s paid off, and has been dead reliable. I’m sure some will take the 5k cash and keep the car.

I have a friend who had a TDI Jetta I think a 2012 and they are taking the buy back. Getting almost $20k for the car and have driven it 4 years/50k miles. We don’t have emissions here I think they just see it as an opportunity to get into a new car even though they love the TDI.

It’s humorous that Volkswagen, a company with a reputation for building cars that are expensive to maintain, actually went out of its way to lie about the quality of their diesel cars. Where is the win in owning a Volkswagen? Why in the world would anyone buy a Volkswagen with their poor build quality, and now the lies they propagated about the diesel cars?
Wake up you dummies, you’re embarrassing yourselves.

I’m one of the 165,223. Determination of my eligibility is more than a week overdue at this point.

Yeah, I’m done with VW. They don’t have anything of interest to me here on sale. Also, make sure when you’re done filling out your paperwork, that you re-scan EVERY page. Also, depending on your state you’ll need another form to attach: https://www.vwcourtsettlement.com/en/ (go to Court Documents, Forms & Notices and click on forms)

Yeah I used the copier at work to do all the scanning today, filled out the paperwork during my off period and the apparently all our HR/business office people are notaries so that was super easy. My loan was through VW Financial so that part was easy, and Virginia didn’t have any additional forms (that I saw).
I test drove the “new” GSW when I was at the dealership using my dealer gift card and I was not a fan of the automatic at all. I’ve seen the new alltrack in person (perk of living “close” to VW of NA Headquarters) and that sealed the deal with nope I’m taking the money and running.

Week overdue in the original 10 day time frame or the “new” 4 week time frame? Mine took about 5 weeks (including some holidays).

I submitted late September, they were verified late October, and I just got my offer this week.

Also one of the frustrated folks waiting on VW to “determine my eligibility”
Fortunately, I was able to move forward with a new purchase - a 5 series, manual, with low miles. The torque of the TDI made it bearable to not be able to row my own, but I am so glad to be in a stick again!
